It’s always a toss-up whether to drink red or white wine with pork. I normally go for white but I really liked this combination of a brined smoked pork chop with a light(ish), slightly smoky refosco at Casa in Bristol the other night.

Maybe the best front-of-the-telly snack idea I’ve come across this Christmas: French fries with caviar and crème fraiche dip @bebebob. Which of course makes it spendy for a snack but you could pull the same trick with lumpfish roe. The schnitzel would be a bit more of a hassle to make at home but it was very very good. Add a glass (or two) of champagne and the top notch company of @thaneeprince and you have the perfect Christmas lunch. Also an utterly dreamy plate of ricotta and cavolo nero agnolotti with pumpkin and sage butter under a billowy cloud of parmesan. (The pasta is always worth ordering but enough for two if you have other dishes so I’d share.)
